FIG FETUS

clay, acrylic, pastel, 2023

As I approach the culmination of my high school journey, a metamorphosis unfolds within me—both physically and psychologically. Throughout life, every human undergoes multiple transformations, continually shaping our identities as we evolve from infancy to childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Fascinated by the myriad forms of metamorphosis, I wanted to depict the primordial stage—infancy. I chose to replace the embryo sac with a fig, symbolizing the fleeting nature of our existence. This portrayal parallels the transient essence of fruit from its ripe fertility to its eventual decay, mirroring the human experience.
